Aldershot Town v Macclesfield Town - Preview

It's back to league matters for the Shots as new manager Kevin Dillon takes charge of his first match, with Macclesfield Town the visitors to the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Kevin Dillon was confirmed as Aldershot's manager on Monday and is the fifth manager the club has had since forming in 1992. Contrary to rumour, he wasn't at the game against Bury last week, but in Milton Keyenes watching The Silkmen lose 1-0 against McFranchise in the FA Cup 1st Round.

There's no new injury worries for Dillon, with Dean Howell the only long-term casualty. John Halls has been back in training and could be included in the squad with Ben Harding. Dave Winfield will serve the last of his three match suspension after his sending off at Shrewsbury last month.

For the visitors, Sean Hessey is ruled out through injury, while Ricky Stapleton, Izak Reid and Paul Bolland are all fit. Defender Carl Tremarco is back from suspension.

Speaking to Aldershot's official website, Kevin Dillon appears to have done his homework and knows what to expect from Macclesfield. He commented 'I saw Macclesfield last week in the FA Cup tie at MK Dons. They are a big, strong team and they will be disappointed that they lost because they had chances in the final 10 minutes to have equalised. They are a powerful, organised side and have a couple of powerful forwards.'

Aldershot come into this game off the back of a fantastic win over Bury in the FA Cup last week, but are without a win in the league for over a month when Morecambe were beaten 4-1 at the Rec.

Macclesfield have only lost one of their last seven league games, but have only picked up two wins in that period. Keith Alexander's men are 18th in the table, but only four points behind Aldershot who are 10th.

Gary Waddock's first home league match in charge ended in defeat, as did Jason Dodd's - Let's hope Kevin Dillon's Shots will make it third time lucky.
