Aldershot Town 0-0 Macclesfield Town

Macclesfield Town put in a fantastic defensive display to hold Aldershot to a goalless draw in Kevin Dillon's first match in charge.

Despite the driving wind and rain, the pitch was in fantastic condition and the game was never in doubt.

Dillon named an unchanged line up from the one that defeated Bury 2-0 last week.

Aldershot kicked towards the East Bank in the first half, with the wind behind them. Unfortunatley the high winds made judging the weight of a pass very difficult and chances were rare for both sides in the early stages.

Anthony Straker produced the best effort of the first half, but Jon Brain saved well.

The visitors' left back Carl Tremarco had the measure of Kirk Hudson and did a very good job of minimising the winger's threat throughout the first half.

Adam Hinshelwood was replaced by Chris Blackburn at half time after picking up a knock late in the first half.

Aldershot made a good start to the second half, playing into the wind. Hudson, Morgan and Donnelly all had good chances early in the half, but the Macclesfield keeper was keeping his side in the game.

As the second half went on, Aldershot always looked the more likely to score. Marvin Morgan finally managed to beat the offside trap, but fired his shot over the bar.

The Silkmen stood firm throughout and thoroughly deserved to leave the Rec with a well earned point.
